This decadent Thermomix Chocolate Orange Tart tastes seriously good.  Made with dates, almonds and coconut oil and naturally sweetened with honey, oranges and cacao, it’s so easy and effortless to put together with the help of the Thermomix.

Chocolate combined with oranges is a classic flavour combination.  This Thermomix Chocolate Orange Tart reminds me of Terry’s Chocolate Orange, which growing up was a staple at Christmas time in our house.  It’s a no bake tart for a start, and is gluten, dairy and refined sugar free.  There is a LOT of honey though so not sure if this would be classed as a healthy dessert or not.

Serve with a dusting of Cocoa, a few raspberries or strawberries or if you’re really naughty a dollop of cream or ice cream. This Thermomix Chocolate Orange Tart can be enjoyed at any time of the day but tastes particularly lovely with an afternoon cuppa.  If there is any left it can be stored in the fridge for a few days.

If you’re after a chocolatey dessert for a cold winter’s day, my recipe for Nigella’s Chocolate Pear Pudding is comfort food at is finest.

Serves: 8

Ingredients

  • FOR THE FILLING:
  • 75g medjool dates
  • zest of 2 oranges, juice of 1
  • 50g coconut oil
  • 175g clear honey
  • 140g raw cacao powder
  • FOR THE CRUST:
  • 100g coconut oil
  • 140g almonds, ground
  • 175g desiccated coconut
  • 2 and a half tablespoons clear honey
  • 1 tablespoon raw cacao powder

Instructions

1

Take the stones out of the dates, put them in a heatproof bowl, cover with boiling water and leave to soften for about 20 minutes.

2

To make the crust, place the almonds in the thermomix bowl and blitz for 10-20 seconds/speed 10 until finely ground. Add the remaining crust ingredients and mix for 10 sec/speed 5 until it comes together.

3

Tip the mixture into a greased 23cm flan tin and press firmly with the back of a spoon to form the base. Place in the fridge to chill whilst you make the filling.

4

For the filling, drain the dates and place them into the Thermomix bowl along with the orange juice, orange zest, coconut oil, honey and cacao powder and combine for 10 seconds/speed 5. Scrape down the bowl and mix again on speed 5 until a smooth paste forms.

5

Spoon the paste over the crust until it's spread evenly and put back in the fridge to set for about an hour before serving.

6

Serve with a dusting of raw cacao powder, fresh berries and if there's any left it can be stored in the fridge for a few days in an airtight container.
